2018-2019 Outstanding Scholars
Anna Kearney
With a 4.127 GPA, Anna Kathleen Kearney is graduating as valedictorian of her class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, President of Mu Alpha Theta, and President of the Science National Honor Society. While at FHS, she was Captain of Raider Varsity Tennis, and was named to the Flint Metro League All Academic First Team. Anna has been named one of WNEM TV-5’s Best and Brightest Honorees, as well as a College Board AP Scholar with Distinction. Anna plans on majoring in Actuarial Science/Apparel & Textile Design at the University of Alabama, where she has been granted the Presidential Scholarship. Anna has also received the Roberta Reed McWilliams Endowment Fund Scholarship, and the J.B. Cook and George Carpenter Scholarship. She is the daughter of Todd and Colleen Kearney.
Mariann Hayek
Mariann Wael Hayek is the daughter of Wael and Kholoud Hayek. Graduating with a 4.104 GPA, Mariann plans to study Biology, Health & Society (pre-med) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. Mariann is also a Scholar Athlete. She has received the Flint Kiwanis Educational Foundation Scholarship.
Kaylee Czyzio
The daughter of Christopher and Maria Czyzio, Kaylee Marie Czyzio has a 4.085 GPA and will be attending Purdue University, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. She was awarded the Edgar L. Cornwell Scholarship, Dort Federal Credit Union Scholarship, the Richard and Kathy Merrill Recognition Scholarship of The Flushing Rotary Club, and was a Gold Medalist in the Flint Metro League Math & Science Competition. Kaylee is the President of the National Honor Society, Vice President of the Science National Honor Society, Secretary of Mu Alpha Theta, and a member of the National Technical Honor Society.
Jay Chhabra
Jay Yash Chhabra is the son of Paul and Dina Chhabra. He will graduate with a 4.083 GPA. Jay is a member of the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society. Jay also competed in the Metro League Math/Science Competition in 2017 and 2018. He is the recipient of a Welch Foundation Scholarship and the Stephen T. Phillips Memorial Scholarship. Jay is planning to attend the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, to study Neuroscience through the Honors Program.
Ethan Finn
Ethan John Finn will attend the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is undecided as to whether he will pursue Pharmacy or Law at this time. At FHS, he was twice named a Scholar Athlete. Ethan is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. He will graduate with a 4.078 GPA. Ethan is the son of John Finn and Gena Finn.
Rahmy Salman
Graduating with a 4.076 GPA, Rahmy Salman will attend the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, to study Mathematics and Information. The son of Wael and Reem Salman, Rahmy is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. He has received the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Regent’s Merit Scholarship. He was named to the Flint Metro League All Academic 2nd Team. Rahmy was also named one of WNEM Mid-Michigan’s Best & Brightest, as well as the Most Outstanding String Player (2016-17).
Scott Branham
Scott York Branham will attend Grand Valley State University, where he has received the Award for Excellence Scholarship and the Presidential Scholarship. With a 4.042 GPA, Scott is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. He plans to study Interdisciplinary Engineering. Scott took 2nd place in the Flint Metro League Academic Competition and was named 2018 MVP of Raider Varsity Tennis. Scott is the son of Steven and Kimberly Branham.
Andrew Kearney
Andrew Kenneth Kearney will attend Michigan State University in the fall where he plans to study Biosystems Engineering. He is the son of Todd and Colleen Kearney, and is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. Andrew has received the MSU Honors College STATE Scholarship, MSU Professorial Assistantship, the McNally Endowed Scholarship, a Welch Foundation Scholarship, and the MSU Biosystems Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship. He was Captain of Boys Varsity Tennis for 2 years, and has been named the ABC12 Athlete of the Week. Andrew is also an Eagle Scout. He is graduating with a 4.034 GPA.
Sydney Mott
Sydney Lee Mott is a member of the National Honor Society and will graduate with a 4.033 GPA. She will attend Oakland University where she has been awarded the Presidential Gold Scholarship. Sydney plans to study Exercise Science. She was named Most Improved JV Tennis Player in 2017 and received the Coaches Award in Varsity Tennis in 2018. She is the daughter of Christopher Mott and Nicole Chandler.
Josiah Jaster
Josiah Ron Jaster is graduating with a 4.032 GPA. He will attend Kettering University to study Applied Mathematics. Josiah is the son of Ronald and Doris Jaster. He was awarded the Kettering University Recognizes Excellence Scholarship, the Kettering University Presidential Scholarship, as well as the Kettering University Honors Scholarship. Josiah took 1st place in the Flint Metro League Math & Science Competition for AP Calculus. He also placed 3rd in the Genesee County Spelling Bee in 2018. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.
Rachel Ajemian
Rachel Elizabeth Ajemian is graduating with a 4.031 GPA. She plans to study Creative Writing at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she has received the Jessica R. Kolins Scholarship for Creative Writing. Rachel is the daughter of Charles Ajemian and Sarah Filkins. While at FHS, Rachel was a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.. Rachel was nominated for the Detroit News/CATCH-Language Arts Scholarship. Rachel was inducted into the International Thespian Society for technical work.
Jackson Mott
Jackson Thomas Mott, the son of Christopher Mott and Nicole Chandler, is graduating with a 4.026 GPA. Jackson plans on attending the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, for Communication Studies, and is the recipient of a Welch Foundation Scholarship. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.
Molly Siglin
Molly Luise Siglin is planning to attend Oakland University, where she will study Accounting. Molly will graduate with a 4.025 GPA and has received Oakland University’s Platinum Presidential Scholar Award. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Molly is the daughter of Ricky and Kristin Rider.
Olivia Ziemelis
Olivia Grace Ziemelis is the daughter of Peter and Nancy Ziemelis. Olivia will attend Eastern Michigan University in the fall where she will study Mechanical Engineering. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Olivia will graduate with a 4.023 GPA and has received the Eastern Michigan University Presidential Scholarship. She was named Rotary Student of the Month. Olivia was a member of Flushing Raider Robotics that took 9th place on Daly Division at 2018 Worlds, and 1st on DTE Division at 2017 States.
Julia Hagler
Julia Jean Hagler will attend the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, this fall, studying Biomedical Engineering. With a 4.017 GPA, Julia is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. Julia was on the Honor Roll all 4 years of high school, and received the Scholar Athlete Award from 2015 through 2019. She was named most improved Varsity Soccer Player in 2017. Julia took 3rd place in the MHSAA Math & Science Competition for Chemistry, and has been awarded the Flushing Lions Club Scholarship. Julia is the daughter of Ryan Hagler and Carrie Kline.
Caroline Caulkins
Caroline Grace Caulkins is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. She will graduate with a 4.016 GPA. Caroline plans to attend the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she will study Biology. While at FHS, Caroline was the President of A Cappella and the Advanced Orchestra. Caroline is the daughter of Dale Caulkins and Jami Caulkins.
Madeline Morrison
Madeline Lorynn Morrison is planning to attend Wayne State University, where she will study Pre-Dentistry. Madeline will graduate with a 4.013 GPA and has received the Wayne State University Warrior Scholarship. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. Madeline was on the 2019 3rd Team All State Volleyball and has received 11 Varsity Letters, as well as being named Scholar Athlete 11 times. Madeline is the daughter of Mark and Jennifer Morrison.
Makayla Hicks
Makayla Lindsay Hicks is the daughter of Charles and Hillary Hicks. Makayla will attend Brigham Young University, where she will study Mechanical Engineering. She has received the Sovereign Auto Scholarship, the Robert E. Hoffman Memorial Scholarship, and the Elaine and Marion Rumsey Scholarship. Makayla is a member of the National Honor Society and will graduate with a 4.012 GPA. She has an Academic Varsity Letter and has earned a superior rating by finishing with a 1 at District Solo and Ensemble.
Harrison Jones
Harrison Robert Jones will graduate with a 4.003 GPA. Harrison will attend Michigan State University this fall, studying Chemical Engineering. He has received the Michigan State University Senator Joe and Mary Conroy Endowed Scholarship. Harrison was the winner of previous Spelling Bee contests. He was also named Most Outstanding Senior Boy in Marching Band. He is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the Science National Honor Society. Harrison is the son of Robert Jones and Kathryn Ward.
